Devotional: Day 16 – Now Faith!

day 16

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 12:1(NIV)
A body that doesn’t breathe is dead.  In the same way faith that does nothing is dead. James 2:26 (GW)

Right Now is the right time!

The enemy likes to use a strategy called “not yet”. It is very subtle and it keeps us from acting and moving or taking steps towards our purpose because according to us, it’s not the right time, everything is not perfectly in place, we are not ready.

Then it snowballs into, “I’m not good enough”, “I’m not the best person to do this”, “maybe this wasn’t such a good idea”. Until finally we get to, “it’s too late”, “why bother!”, pushing us back into the corner of non-action and unfulfilled purpose. Many of my projects are still in my notebook with self-labelled expiration tags and a ‘wait for the perfect conditions’ logo.  Waiting for some sign from the future that I will have perfect success.

If we continue to operate under the influence of this strategy, we may never achieve our full potential.  But there is another way:  “Now faith” is taking action on the goals we have set, while being led in the direction of “the evidence of things not seen”.  Now is as good a time as any to go back to the project you put aside so that you could attend to everyone else’s needs. You don’t have to sacrifice your dreams to go about the business of life. You can accomplish both successfully.  If you truly believe in this dream, the sacrifice will be worth it.

Prayer/Journal: Father I recognize that procrastination is a strategy used against me to lower my productivity through distraction and delay.  Today I am ready to follow the instructions and take the necessary actions to achieve my purpose.

Today, I will not make excuses, I will act in faith.
