My Boat, His Platform Devotional: Day 30 – Pushing the Limits

Day 29

With Your help I can advance against a troop, with my Elohim I can scale a wall.
Psalm 18:29 (NIV)

The scripture referenced in Joshua 17 on Day 29 – Challenge Accepted, is connected to the blessing Joseph received from his father Jacob in Genesis 49. His prophetic words to Joseph include verse 22 which says: “Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall.”

Today’s encouragement is: rise above obstacles and expand beyond limitations, real or imagined.

By the time they got to the promise, Joseph’s tribe was so fruitful that you spread outside the boundaries designed to keep them neatly in place.

Walls do not occur naturally, they are usually constructed as a means of defense. On a personal level we build defensive walls to protect our hearts or our space from the threat of being broken or breached. However, sometimes we build walls so high and dense that we keep ourselves stifled and unable to grow. We may accomplish keeping others out, but we also confine ourselves to the area where the walls came up.

It is time to differentiate between the walls built to protect and the ones erected to define our limits, separating us from our dreams and destiny. Don’t just accept all obstacles as a sign of how far you can or should go. Whatever has been constructed to deter the extent of your growth, whether it is a fear of failure, the still open wound of past disappointments or the memory of words spoken with the intent to cut you down, it is time to grow above and beyond it. With Yahweh’s help you will scale this wall.

Do not let anyone define your limits with their words or actions. Push past the walls of not being strong enough, good enough, smart enough, talented enough etc. As you remain connected to and abiding in the True Vine, you will be so fruitful that your branches will produce outside of what you thought was the limits of your success.

Prayer/Journal: Father, there are no limits to who I am in You. You have promised that if I abide in You and You abide in me, then I will produce much fruit. I ask that as I abide, you will give me the grace to grow beyond the definitions and fears that limited me before. Help me to see obstacles, not as limits, but as a challenge to grow.

Today, by faith I will push past limits and obstacles and into my purpose.

  1. “It is time to differentiate between the walls built to protect and the ones erected to define our limits, ” really speaks to me. I’m seeking wisdom daily to know the difference.
